It has long been associated with the Hispanic-Serving institution (HSI) designation that the Federal government established in the 1992 reauthorization of the Higher Education Act to recognize and provide funding and resources to colleges and universities that had a fulltime undergraduate enrollment of at least 25% Latinx.</description>
